Have you got…..Vocal Impact?

megaphone02

Have you ever thought about how often you or your staff use your voices to inform, persuade, sell and inspire?

Oral communication may be a neglected part of your business but it impacts on almost everything you do.  So, perhaps you should think more about it.

The Science
Within about seven seconds of opening your mouth the listener(s) have made subconscious decisions about you.
There are three areas where we focus specifically:

  • Volume – you must be easy to hear
  • Clarity – you must be easy to understand
  • Modulation – you must sound interesting

Being Loud Enough
Your vocal power comes from your breath so…..

  • REMEMBER TO BREATHE
  • ADD MENTAL IMPETUS
  • KEEP RELAXED

Being precise
Speak clearly to give a good impression

  • FINISH YOUR WORDS
  • CONTROL THE PACE
  • BE AWARE OF YOUR ACCENT
  • ALLOW PAUSES FOR THOUGHT

Being interesting
The ‘tunes’ we make are what engages someone and keeps them listening.

  • USE ALL YOUR PITCH RANGE
  • ENGAGE EMOTIONALLY WITH WORDS
  • USE INFLECTIONS TO POINT THE MEANING
  • LET TONE QUALITY SHOW FEELINGS
  • DON’T FORGET FACIAL EXPRESSION

Being sincere
To change habits you need a great deal of discipline and focus but if oral communication is a key part of your business day, you need to give it consideration.
The voice is a MARKETING and SALES tool.  You manage your team with it and influence customers directly. Get the equation right and you can really affect your bottom line.
